About The “Know SDGs” Project

The "Know SDGs" Project:

Schools For Global Goals (S4GG) programme is an SDGs intervention programme designed by Stella Ifediba Transformational Education Concepts (SITEC), as a strategic model to influence and support the introduction of SDGs in both state secondary and federal unity schools in Nigeria. It aims at promoting SDGs Knowledge, Awareness and Advocacy for both teachers, and students under two main divisions;

  • 1. The Teachers for Global Goals (T4GG) Programme and
  • 2. The Students for Global Goals (St4GG) Programme.

The T4GG is a training of the trainer's programme targeting to train and equip 50 to 100 teachers per state with requisite knowledge and fundamentals about the 17 SDGs, facilitated to connect SDGs to their various subject curriculum, and groomed on the 21st century teaching approaches and strategies to be used for possible integration of SDGs into the curriculum or extra-curricular activities in their schools. The teachers depth of understanding and application of knowledge is evaluated after the training by challenging them to either integrate relevant SDGs into their lessons or establish SDGs Changemakers Club in their schools where they would train and mentor between 20-50 students on SDGs using our model.

The St4GG training Programme inspires, equips and empowers a number of students volunteer under the SDGs Changemakers Club to learn about the 17 SDGs while their in-depth knowledge and potential application of learning are evaluated and consolidated through the "KNOW-SDGs" QUIZ GAME. The Know-SDGs Quiz Game Tournament and Awards is organised at the end of the SDGs training programme for both teachers and students to recognise and reward their outstanding performance, contributions and commitments.

The Vision

The aim of the “Know SDGs” project is to strategically influence and promote the introduction of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) across secondary schools in 17 Local Government Areas of the state, as a result promote SDGs Knowledge, Awareness and advocacy among teachers and students in Enugu State. To increase SDGs Knowledge and Awareness, and raise a generation of young Changemakers who are concerned, equiped and committed to influence, promote or build a safe and sustainable future

SDGs Vision

The Sustainable Development Goals was set in 2015 to be achieved by 2030, 9 years gone and just 6 years remaining to reach the Agenda 2030, yet the SDGs is still unknown to millions of Nigerian especially among the educators and students who should be the key agents for sustainable change. Of course, no one will get involved or be committed to achieve what they know little or nothing about". Ifediba S.I

The Mission

The mission is to inspire and empower teacher - volunteers using innovative, fun and real life applicable strategies to enable them integrate SDGs into the curriculum and extracurricular activities of their schools as well facilitate the drive of student-volunteers to become young Changemakers.

What We Do

We educate, empower and support teachers and students to learn, teach, advocate and take simple actions to promote sustainable development practices in their classrooms, schools, communities, states, and the nation at large.

Thus, we organise Sustainable Development Goals training programmes to equip teachers with the basic knowledge about the SDGs, how to integrate, teach and promote SDGs in their various subjects curriculum and their school extra-curricular activities. Our teacher-volunteers (SDGs Volunteer Facilitators) are also inspired and supported to establish SDGs Changemakers Club for educating and empowering their students to become SDGs Champions/Change Ambassadors in their schools and beyond.

We also organise the SDGs Quiz Game Tournament for both the teacher-volunteers and SDGs Changemakers Club members using the “Know The Goals” Board Game and other online games to evaluate and consolidate their SDGs knowledge, creativity and possible application of learning beyond the training programme. The SDGs Quiz Game Tournament is also organised to recognise and reward outstanding teachers and students for excellent participation and contributions as SDGs Champions, Changemakers and Ambassadors. Our intention is that SDGs Quiz Game Tournament will equally be used as a strategy to create public awareness and inspire more schools, teachers and students to get involved.
